On behalf of the University of Split, Faculty of Maritime Studies, it is with great pleasure that we extend to you an invitation to participate in the 30th International Maritime Lecturers Association (IMLA30) Conference. This prestigious event will be held in the colourful city of Split from September 24 to September 27, 2025.
IMLA’s aim is “to promote contact and cooperation between Maritime Lecturers of all disciplines and to develop a body of Professional expertise. Thus it attempts to fulfill at its regular international conferences and through this portal. At that point, The IMLA30 conference aims to bring together maritime educators, researchers, industry professionals, and policy makers to discuss the latest trends, challenges, and innovations in maritime education and training. This year’s conference will feature an array of engaging sessions, workshops, and panel discussions, providing an excellent opportunity for professional development, networking, and collaboration. This year, we are also pleased to announce that IMLA30 will host three specialized sub-committees: International Navigation Simulator Lecturers Conference – INSLC23, International Conference on Engine Room Simulators – ICERS17, International Maritime English Conference – IMEC35, each focusing on a distinct aspect of maritime education and training, allowing for more in-depth discussions and targeted networking opportunities.
The conference will host worldwide known keynote speakers. The conference program will cover a wide range of topics, including but not limited to navigation/engine-room simulator based maritime education and training, maritime safety and security, environmental sustainability, technological advancements, and best practices in maritime education and training.
We are also excited to offer cultural and social activities that will allow participants to experience the rich history and beauty of Split. The papers will be reviewed by world renowned academic staff and will accordingly be published in the proceedings or in the journal Transctions on Maritime Science. The proceedings will include all the acccepted and presented full papers. The Best Presentation Awards will also be presented to each specific sub-committee.
We will be honored if you join us as a participant in this event. Your expertise and insights will be a valuable addition to our discussions and will greatly contribute to the success of the conference.

Registrations can be completed using the form available at this link.
To participate in the Conference, the participants should complete the payment process with the registration. If payment is not made, registration will not be confirmed.
When making their payment by bank transfer, the participants are required to add the details “IMLA30 – Name Surname” in the description section of the transaction form and send the payment receipt to aborzic@pfst.hr at the end of the transaction. If this process is not completed, the registration-payment matching process will not be possible, and confirmation will not be provided.

How to reach Split by public transport:
By coach:
Split’s main bus/coach station is well-connected with domestic routes from cities like Zagreb, Dubrovnik, and Zadar, as well as international routes from neighbouring countries. The bus/coach timetable is available here: https://www.ak-split.hr/en/
By train:
While train services in Croatia are not as extensive as in some other European countries, there are regular trains connecting Split with Zagreb. The journey takes approximately 6 – 8 hours.

By plane:
Split Airport is the main international gateway to the region. It offers flights from major European cities and seasonal connections from other destinations. It is located 19 kilometres from Split, in Kaštela.
The airport shuttle bus runs regularly to the city centre and the main bus station.

Close to Split Airport there is a bus stop of lines No. 37 (Split – Trogir; Trogir – Split), No. 38 (Split Airport – Kastel Stari – Split; Split – Kastel Stari – Split Airport) and No. 2 (Split Airport – Kastel Sucurac – Split; Split – Kastel Sucurac– Split Airport).
One-way ticket is €3.00. In case you install the PROMET-SPLIT application, the ticket is €1.50.

Taxis are available outside the terminal, providing a direct and convenient, though more expensive, option. Beware of unlicensed taxis offering their services. The best options are: Wizi ~ www.wizi.hr ~ (tel:+385 21 313 313) or Žuti taxi ~ www.zuti-taxi.com ~ (tel:+385 21 208 208), which are the most popular.
Several car rental companies operate at the airport if you prefer to drive yourself. However, bear in mind that parking is limited and there is no reserved parking at the conference venue.

Split has a reliable public bus network operated by Promet Split. Buses can take you around the city and to nearby towns and attractions.
